So, what is this challenge?

It’s our total health challenge.

This is where we bring in everything that can help you totally develop.

Losing fat is great, but who are you becoming?

Are you losing fat at the detriment of your social life and mental health? The unfortunate fact is most people are.

Losing fat at all costs, no matter what. This results in desperate extreme diets.

When you are in this state you will believe anyone who tells you they have the magic diet or pill. You want to believe it’s true and jump in, just to end up back to square 1 time and time again.

So whatever you’ve been doing for the last 5+ years hasn’t been working. Doing more of the same with a different name or label isn’t the answer.

And that’s where this challenge comes in.

Can you change everything in 10 weeks? Yes, it’s possible. The changes will be mental and that will put you on a different pathway in life.

The weight will come off as a byproduct of building a new lifestyle. You won’t be consumed by it.

This new lifestyle is your catapult into a different life. The knock on effect of the habits you’ll build from Octagon 2.0 will be unthinkable right now.

We can only connect the dots looking backwards. So we must trust the process, make the most of each day and build to become the person we want to be. That’s when the magic happens.

Yoga

Here’s some stories from the first challenge that we love that show how it can change your life:

  • Some dyslexic members read a nonfiction book for the first time ever and are now avid readers since the challenge;
  • One member lost over 100lbs (see below), dropped 10 dress sizes and has transformed her outlook on life;
  • Some members have quit jobs they didn’t like after building up a new found confidence;
  • A whole bunch of members have become best friends and travel and support each other across the country;
  • Many members have gone on to start their own businesses;
  • Countless members have “become runners” and have completed virtual and in person marathons;
  • Some members found the courage to face issues that haven’t been dealt with in the past.

And so much more.

So, ask yourself:

Do you want to be free from the conflict in our minds about food and exercise every single day?

Do you finally want that mental energy back to direct at more important matters in life such as our relationships with our partner, friends and family?

Do you want to see what you’re capable of in 10 weeks with the best support possible?

If you want to see what you’re made of, unshackle from diet culture and finally free yourself, then this is the challenge for you.

Octagon 2.0 is the accumulation of what all the experts at Trtle know combined with the feedback, advice and knowledge we’ve gained from helping 10,000s of people.

We’ve designed, what we believe is, the best possible total health program. We’ve left nothing off.

Octagon 2022 8 Pillars

Nutrition

What you’ll achieve:

  • You’ll build a healthy relationship with food so you can be free from food anxieties and worry
  • You’ll learn about “macros” and why this system gives you food freedom through a 10-week seminar series with Ph.D Paul Rimmer
  • You’ll know the myths of the industry so you never have to fall for them again

Whether you want to lose weight, maintain or gain, we’ve got you covered. You’ll have your own custom macro plan for the 10-week challenge with full access to our brand new nutrition app which makes it extremely easy to track your progress.

Inside this app you can scan barcodes, search foods, create recipes, customise your daily intake, track your menstrual cycle, stress, emotional health, workouts and more.

The app will be your virtual lifestyle coach for the entire 10 weeks, making tweaks to your calories and macros when it thinks they need to be made. All you need to do is complete a weekly check-in/review inside the app which will take you less than 3 minutes.

On top of having your very own virtual health assistant there will be a weekly seminar with PhD Paul Rimmer who will be teaching you the core of nutrition. The 10 week series of seminars will be like taking a mini course on nutrition.

Training

We have a massive variety of training sessions available suitable for multiple goals and experience levels.

Want to focus on getting from couch to 5k/10k/marathon? We have running plans and a coach to help and support you every week (more on running down the page).

Want to get strong and add muscle? Follow our 10 week strength plan with 3 live workouts per week and a training logbook to follow.

Want to improve your general cardio health? Try our boxing fitness class, sweat & shred or dance fitness sessions. These are low impact, high heart rate workouts that will get you feeling on top of the world.

Want to work on your flexibility and balance? We’ve got 3 yoga sessions per week for you to try including Yin Yoga and Vinyasa flows. You’re not just following a session, you’ll learn how to do the moves and by the end of this challenge you’ll be able to do your own practice without guidance.

And what if you’re pre or post natal? We have you covered there too. We have a specialist ex-olympic weight-lifter Emma running 2 live workouts per week with 3x seminar/Q&As through the 10 weeks. You’ll learn how to regain your strength in a safe away amongst others in the same boat as you.

It’s a lot isn’t it, but this isn’t a bad thing!

But we help you choose the right path for you and your goals. Nobody is expected to do everything but with our pre-start sessions and guidance you’ll pick a path to follow or even switch it up half way through and try other sessions. No matter what, we’re there to help and guide.

Mindset & Mental Health

We have a 3 prong approach to mental wellness. We’ve split this into 3 categories which is “daily mindset”, “performance wellness” and “mental health”.

Mindset Mornings

Ex GB coach Dean Leak running “mindset mornings” as an audio-only drop in session within the challenge group. This is where we can chat, ask questions and set-up our days nicely.

“I've learnt a huge amount from Dean. Dean is a fantastic mindset coach and he has this ability to really challenge your way of thinking and bring out the best in people.”Fudge

Performance Wellness

Hugh Gilmore will be running “performance wellness” seminars on zoom for group discussions and learning. Hugh is an expert in this field with vast knowledge helping elite athletes and the everyday person. You’ll learn the most up-to-date methods on how to approach performance wellness as well as learning by “doing” through Hugh’s interactive zoom sessions.

“Just managed to catch up with this seminar! Very eye opening. Can relate to lots of what has been said in the comments. Will certainly work on progressive muscular relaxation to help with tension headaches ive been experiencing.”Laura Palmer-Lovell

Mental Health

Ryan Williams, a qualified mental health nurse and practitioner, will be running mental health sessions every Sunday night on zoom. This is a safe space to open up about anything you’re struggling with.

“Ryan’s mental health session: it’s like being in a pub with your closest friends, in front of a big glass of wine, talking about challenges and growth. Liberating!”Melania Battiston

Without the focus on the mental wellbeing, physical gains are temporary and sometimes disastrous as we revert back to old habits and ways of thinking.

Reading

Reading and learning is fundamental to your development. Since we introduced the book club with the first Octagon challenge we’ve read 20+ books as a community with huge life impact.

For the challenge we will be covering 2 books and reading 10 pages a day. Even if you don’t do this you can still learn a lot from the book club sessions where we discuss what we found useful and how we are applying it.

We will be reading 1 book on habits and 1 book on the practical philosophy of Stoicism (which is the precursor for modern-day Cognitive Behavioural therapy!)

If more information by itself was the answer, everyone would be healthier, happier and fulfilled. However, more information is nothing without action and learning within a group. That’s why we always chat about the books each week.

We learn from eachother, we see different perspectives and we commit to taking action.

Your coach for reading:

Dr Paul Rimmer

Scott

“I love reading! I never really read books unless I was laying on a sun lounger and even then they were all fiction. I joined book club because I love the concept of coming together to discuss ideas and thoughts and I never looked back. I now read daily for fun and have learnt so much, I look forward to book club every week and enjoy the self learning that comes with it!”Christina Gunapalan

Cooking

Jonny Becker will help you become a top macros-focused chef during the 10 weeks.

You’ll have access to his library of meal-prep videos to batch-cook high protein meals for all food preferences.

Every week we will focus on a specific recipe so we can all share our experiences, tips and get feedback. On Tuesday’s we will post pictures of our meals so Jonny can “rate your plate” and offer feedback.

No matter if you hate cooking or you believe you’re up there with Gordon Ramsey you’re going to learn a lot about efficient, high-protein, healthy meal prepping due to Jonny’s 15 years experience as a Chef and health coach.

Jonny also used to run his own meal prep service but now helps coaches across the country help their clients cook for results.

Running

Hate running but want to start?

Looking to go from couch to 5k or 10k?

Want to run a marathon?

Want to hit a PB run?

We have you covered with our running expert and coach Max Willcocks.

You’ll get a running plan suited to your goals, a weekly virtual run and a Q&A session with Max.

On these virtual run sessions Max coaches you through a run helping you with run posture, cadence, speed, breathing and overall technique.

Many members changed from “I’m not a runner” to “I’m a runner and love it” during our last Octagon challenge.

Will you be one of them this time?

Your coach for running:

Coach

Max

“I have never been a runner but I loved the idea of running and the freedom it gives you. I started following Max’s run plans and joined the virtual runs and I can now say I am a runner. I have learnt so much- how to run, running techniques and breath work. I even ended up running 2 virtual races last year! You can achieve what ever you want and I definitely recommend giving running a go!”Christina Gunapalan

Mobility & Flexibility

Bad back? Knees in pain? Flexibility at zero? Body stiff? Need a mindful moment?

You can work to improve all the above by following our Yoga sessions with Annie.

There will be 3 sessions per week, including a mix of Yin yoga and Vinyasa flow.

You’ll learn the moves from the ground up. If you’ve never done Yoga seriously before and want to start, there’s no better place than in the comfort of your own home with a top Yoga instructor.

Nobody watching you (unless you want pointers from Annie) and all in the quietness of your own home.

Your coach for mobility & flexibility:

“Annie’s yoga sessions are a dream she is an incredible teacher and you always finish the class feeling amazing and stress free!”Charlotte Young

Community & Accountability

The community and us at Trtle will keep you accountable.

You’ll have access to our nutritionist via email (1-1) every day of the challenge.

You'll join WhatsApp groups that are most suited to you and your goals. Example groups are ‘new mothers’, shift workers, teachers, runners etc.

Each week you’ll complete a weekly check-in inside our app so we can review your data and make changes to your macros if they are needed.

There are 'morning mindset' audio drop-in sessions within the group. Anyone can listen in with ease and ask questions if they want to start their day right.

Every morning at 6 am, we post our daily micro podcast (10-15min long) to keep you on track and focused on the day ahead. You’ll also learn a lot from these about nutrition, stress, mindset etc

Private FB group access

All sessions are done via zoom, which means you can chat with us and get some tasks for the week ahead. We have Friday night chats/reviews and Sunday mental health sessions to stay accountable and get involved with the community.

P.S We have an end of challenge event on April 10th! It's a social event to celebrate how far we've all come

Messages from our members

What’s the investment?

To put together this challenge with all the coaches and instructors it costs us over £22,000 for the 10 weeks. We’ve not made any exceptions, this is the ultimate challenge and we’re not holding back.

How can one person do it all or know it all? You see most coaches and trainers only educate from their singular point of view but we know this isn’t optimal as we require many teachers from different walks of life.

Therefore our goal at Trtle has always been to bring the best coaches, instructor and teachers to help our members, no matter the cost.

And you’ll get access for LIFE to the challenge content.

So even if you decided to do only one path this time, you can re-do it by following another at a future time. In essence, this challenge could be multie different challenges for you when you decide the time is right to try another path.

And what’s the price for all of this for you?

Just £129, a one off payment.

That’s £1.84 a day. Cheaper than a cup of coffee a day that’s for sure.

Here's how the challenge works:

#2 The Turtle Book of Wisdom Creative Project

During the challenge (for anyone that wants to get involved) we will be setting minor tasks to complete to fill out a book of wisdom and advice from the entie community. Imagine all the lessons, quotes, books, stories and struggles we’ve all been through collectively? Now, let’s put that all into a well-written short book to help others.

The book will be printed in Wales and published on the Trtle website & Amazon. All profits will fund the new “Turtle Fund” and the membership will decide on how the funds are spent to help those in need of financial and community support.

Got questions?

  • 1 off payment of £129
Or 3 payments of 43.99 per month

  • All sessions are recorded so you can watch back in your own time. You also get lifetime access to all recordings, so if you want to do the nutrition course after the challenge, you can easily. Everything is saved and yours for life.

  • January 31st.

  • Yep! If anything, beginners will get the most out of this challenge as it will show you the way with nutrition, training, mindset and lifestyle.

  • No, only if you think you only get benefit from being live. Most watch on catch-up; you don't need to do everything live. That's impossible. As long as you schedule the sessions into your own schedule, you'll reap the rewards of this challenge.

  • You will do a questionnaire, and we will create a plan for you with the exact calories and macros you'll need to eat per day. On top of that, we have numerous recipe books and an expert chef for the 10 weeks. You'll follow walkthrough meal prep videos to create high protein meals whether you're vegan, veggie, pescatarian, or eat a varied diet. You also have 1-1 access with a nutritionist 7 days a week to ask any questions about this or for guidance.

  • For strength workouts, you'll need dumbbells. It's best to have a small range such as 2kg up to 8kg for example or you can buy as you progress so you don't waste any money on dumbbells that won't be used.
For Yoga and other classes, you'll need an exercise mat.

  • You'll have access to our nutritionist via email (1-1) every day of the challenge.
You'll be put in WhatsApp groups that are most suited to you and your goals. Example groups are 'new mothers', shift workers, teachers, runners etc.
Each week you'll complete a weekly check-in inside our app so we can review your data and make changes to your macros if they are needed.
There are 'morning mindset' drop-in audio sessions within the group. Anyone can listen in easily and ask questions if they want to start their day right.
Every morning at 6 am, we post our daily micro podcast (10-15min long) to keep you on track and focused on the day ahead. You'll also learn a lot from these about nutrition, stress, mindset etc.

  • All sessions are done via zoom, which means you can chat with us and get some tasks to do for the week ahead. We have Friday night chats/reviews and Sunday mental health sessions to stay accountable and to get involved with the community.

  • We have a pre-start zoom session (you can watch on replay) that will help you pick the most suitable sessions for your goals. Once you have your timetable written down, you'll feel at ease. You can always do other sessions if you get the time or listen to them on your walks if they are the knowledge sessions.
But we'll make sure you plan your challenge and stick to that. There's too much on offer to do it all.

  • The app you use enables you to scan barcodes, add foods, custom recipes and so forth. You'll also "check-in" inside the app once a week to analyse your data and make changes if we think they are needed.
No matter what, we will tell you if changes are required. You don't need to stress about that.
We also have a 1-1 dedicated email address for our nutritionist you can use for help.

  • All sessions are recorded so you can watch back in your own time. You also get lifetime access to all recordings so if you really wanted to do the nutrition course after the challenge because you couldn’t do the sessions live, you can!

  • For strength workouts, you’ll need dumbbells. It’s best to have a small range such as 2kg up to 8kg for example or you can buy as you progress so you don’t waste any money on dumbbells that won’t be used.

For Yoga and other classes, you’ll need an exercise mat.

  • No, we don’t do meal plans specifically for you but we will have 40+ meal prep videos to follow so you can batch cook your own meals. We have an expert chef helping you through the challenge with “rate my plate” feedback, video demos, flavouring guides, quick high-protein batch cooking guides and more.

So whilst we don’t tell you what to eat, we work out your macronutrient needs (protein, carbs, fats) and help you formulate your own meals to fit those numbers. If we do it this way it means you get to learn yourself and you’re more empowered by making decisions yourself vs relying on someone to tell you what to eat every day, that’s miserable! Jonny the chef has 300-400 calorie meal ideas for you to try too.

  • Unfortunately no. You need to track your macros to know exactly what you’re putting in your body. This is the only way to truly lose weight sustainable and long term. Over time, you will get used to the macros in each food and you can then eyeball the foods in the future. But, to begin with you will need to track.

  • Absolutely not! We will help you pick the best sessions to suit your goals. You can't do everything we offer; it's impossible. But you do get lifetime access to everything, so you can always try other things at another time.

  • Yes, you get free access to our nutrition app for the entirety of the challenge. In this app, you’ll track your food and complete your weekly check-ins inside the app itself. The spp will do its magic and make tweaks to your numbers if required.

  • Yes, all seminars and workouts are done through zoom. You’ll get all the links and passwords upfront. You don’t have to come on camera at all, it’s up to you. During workouts, it’s useful if you can so coaches can give you feedback on your technique.

  • If you don’t use FB we suggest that you create a dummy account just to get access into the group. FB groups are the best for hosting all the content and communication. There will be audio drop-in sessions inside the FB group every morning if you wanted to chat with our mindset coach too.

  • It’s a one-off cost of £129. Just £1.85 per day. Cheaper than a cup of coffee.
